So there is a new page on this tab.  It is the Graduation Ride.  It has been recorded and posted so that the beginners will see what they are in store for their last ride as a beginner.  Although truth be told when we got out of the class room times I kinda quit referring to these athletes as beginners.  The have the knowledge now its just a matter of putting in the time with the practice with the information that has been handed out.  It has been a honor to help all of these athletes to get comfortable with riding their bicycles in Kitsap County.  In the coming days the additional pages for these groups will be live, so for those coming to the site for the first time Silverdale will be hosting the intermediate group which will stay on the Saturday at 0800 a.m. schedule.  Bremerton will be getting another beginners group starting in July, so the way this will work is the intermediate group will be going year round, there will be two Beginners group a year in Bremerton.  One starting in March and another group starting in July, so if you missed the inagural group in March have no fear.  Another one is coming soon.  Well I guess that is all for now as always any questions comments or concerns don't hesitate to ask. cblackman@mezagog.com

So here are we a month and a week away from the Graduation ride of the initial Beginners Group.  Can you believe it.  It is amazing to me.  Watching these excited faces on day one and then watching the group grow little by little.  I was talking to another coach and we were talking shop and at the time I was doing a calorie burning ratio since we have started this group.  Hey good news.  I have taken a pound.  Yeah I know you think that I have lost my mind again but, let me finish.  So 3500 calories is what is taken to burn a pound of fat.  Since the beginning this group and utilizing just the calories burned on every ride we have burned an estimated 3752 calories.  So just on the rides on this group.  You have burned a complete pound.  How cool is that.  Well I guess I will get going for now.  As always any questions, comments or concerns don't hesitate to drop me a line. cblackman@mezagog.com.

So it was a great day for a ride.  I will be finalizing the outlines for the Silverdale ride groups soon and have them submitted for final approval, so that is good news.  The group will go on.  Still need to do a meet and greet for the new person in Bremerton to see if they want this group to continue at the end of June.  If you have not heard yet there has been a shuffle of some of the adminstrators within the Y system.  Unfortunately or fortunately as a Volunteer I still have to have a "Normal" job and it happens to be the same hours as the Administrators.  Remember this is Bike Week of Bike Month, I know it doesn't make sense to me either and the Bike to Work Day is the 20th.  Well I guess thats all for now.  As always any questions, comments and or concerns don't hesitate to drop me a line and I will respond as soon as I can.  cblackman@mezagog.com

It is with a very heavy heart that I announce to my readers that the professional peleton has suffered a massive loss. Wouter has passed away on a decent during the Giro d'Italia today in Italy. He was a great sprinter and his loss will be felt not only in the professional world but also in the recreational world. I am asking that if possible get on your bike and ride. I have preached those words for years now. Wouter was the same way. He loved racing, but he also enjoyed the casual rides. So while your on the bike if you could say a little prayer for Wouters family as well as his Leopard-Trek teammates as they deal with the passing of a great cyclist.

Hello from cyber cycling land.  So I am updating the site for the latest and greatest information and thought, hey, why don't I update this page as well.  So lets see whats been going on?  Well looks like the Silverdale group is taking shape and I should be releasing more information with in the next month or so.  The Bremerton group is growing and maturing not only in size but also in skills and capabilities.  It has been phenominal.  Sorry for the lateness of these postings its just been getting crazy I am in the process of making sure that these updates are online sooner in the day.  Also have a proof for the Beginners group to preview for a lapel pin.  Looks cool.  I have two different versions for them to look at and vote on.  Jerseys don't look like they will happen before summer.  I am sad about that truly, but somethings are just unavoidable.  So the jerseys at this point in time are on hold.  Nothing more.  They are just on hold.  Well I guess thats all for now.  As always any questoins, comments or concerns don't hesitate to drop me an email.  cblackman@mezagog.com.  Later

Wow is all I can say.  You can read all about in the Reports tab.  Just wow.  I am amazed and impressed and feeling old all at the same time.  Today was a great ride.  A real confidence builder.  Over 600 feet of climbing with the final route, trippling of the mileage since the beginning.  The skills these ladies are acquiring is so satisfiying.  I really don't mean to sound all religous with my description of the vast improvement that I am seeing, but it is truly zenful.  Go read it.  Or if you can go ride it.  As always any questions, comments or concerns feel free to contact me at cblackman@mezagog.com.  Later

Oh what a great day.  I am so proud of the athletes in this group.  Yeah I said athletes, because that is exactly what all of you are.  For those that know Mindy you should congratulate her.  In a very short period of time she had double her speed and cut her ride time in half.  Way to go Mindy.  Several of you are already to the point of looking at upgrading your bikes.  The rate that this group is growing and maturing is phenominal.  I seriously cannot stop smiling every time that I think of each and every one of you.  You should all be extremely proud of yourselfs.  You are all doing awesome.  Your progress is just amazing and I stand in awe of your improvements.  So now I am off to update the report page.  So as always any questions, comments or concerns feel free to shoot me an email.  I am here for all of you.  Even the lurkers that are following the group but have not made your way out yet.  Email is cblackman@mezagog.com.  Later and be safe.

I was so happy to see so many people this morning in the Cycling class.  Todays class was on the cycling laws which are complicated but simple at the same time.  Essentially anything that will get you in trouble in your car.  Will get you in trouble on a bicycle.  Then of course there was the ride.  You can read about that in the Reports tab off to the left under the Bremerton YMCA Cycling Club.  There may be the possibility of another ride day on Sunday's.  The plans are still being worked out, and the Sunday rides will be in the Silverdale area.  More to follow on that.

March 23, 2011
So the upcoming ride is posted in the up coming ride section.  Hope everyone is having a great week and hope to see you on Saturday.  The classroom portion of Saturday's meeting we will be coving the cycling laws associated to riding a bicycle in Kitsap County.  See you then.  Be safe.

March 19, 2011
Its was a great day for a bike ride.  So in the photo section is a photo of the ride group this morning and the reports section also has a ride report narrated by myself, as well as a map of the route that we took.  Also the stats of the ride.  So the ulitimate goal is to have the days ride up and reported by noon.  Little late today due to an extended play date with a Saint Benard.

March 17, 2011
Happy Saint Patty's day.  So two more days until we meet up again for our first ride.  So Janice and I have talked over the course of the week.  I will have access to the Waiver forms so that will be a go.  I will be posting the ride for Saturday tomorrow.  That way you know where we are going and so on.  Heads up.  We are starting climbing.  We live in Kitsap County.  We have two choices uphill or downhill.  Last Saturday was awesome.  It was great meeting everyone and was impressed with the desire to get out and start riding.  That happens Saturday.  So we will be making it happen.  So while I am in here updating the website you will notice three new tabs for this section.  Upcoming rides, Ride reports and photos.  If I take you picture and you don't want it up here let me know and I will not post it.  The reason why for these new tabs are one you know what we are doing the Saturday coming up.  Two the Report is a narration of what happened for those that weren't able to make it.  The photos gives you a place to send people that you can show them how much fun your having.  Well that is all for now.  See you soon

March 11, 2011
The eve before the first meeting.  Oh the excitement is building.  Its awesome.  So the bags have been put together and will be available for handing out tomorrow.  Also did a quick check and made sure that I had the tools I needed for the tune ups that will be availaibel for tomrrow.  So just a quick note to say that hey just as a reminder we have our first meeting tomorrow.  As a reminder there isn't a formal ride for tomorrow.  Those begin on the 19th.  Have a great night.  Sweet dreams and we will be seeing you tomorrow.

March 2, 2011
So for those that have been patiently waiting the introduction and group outline tabs are up and active.  10 more days until our meet and greet and bike inspections and don't forget the free tune ups.  Going to the bike shop and picking up some more chain lube and stuff so that I can get your bikes in top working order to the best of my ability.  Getting really excited and hope to see you then.  Also one other thing.  Yes you can do this so stop doubting yourself.

Welcome to the Bremerton YMCA Cycling Club.  In the coming days I will be adding all sorts of material.  This will also serve as an additional form of communication for the group.  As we progress class notes will be posted.  Upcoming routes will be posted as well as post ride reports.  I am looking very forward to increasing the size of this page.
